Overview of SEO

SEO stands for program Optimization. SEO is all about optimizing an internet site for search engines. SEO may be a technique for:

  • designing and developing an internet site to rank well in program results.
  • improving the quantity and quality of traffic to an internet site from search engines.
  • marketing by understanding how search algorithms work, and what human visitors might search.

SEO may be a subset of program marketing. SEO is additionally referred as SEO copyrighting, because most of the techniques that are wont to promote sites in search engines, affect text.

If you propose to try to to some basic SEO, it’s essential that you simply understand how search engines work.

How program Works?

Search engines perform several activities so as to deliver search results.

  • Crawling – Process of fetching all the online pages linked to an internet site . This task is performed by a software, called a crawler or a spider (or Googlebot, just in case of Google).
  • Indexing – Process of making index for all the fetched sites and keeping them into an enormous database from where it can later be retrieved. Essentially, the method of indexing is identifying the words and expressions that best describe the page and assigning the page to particular keywords.
  • Processing – When an enquiry request comes, the program processes it, i.e., it compares the search string within the search request with the indexed pages within the database.
  • Calculating Relevancy – it’s likely that quite one page contains the search string, therefore the program starts calculating the relevancy of every of the pages in its index to the search string.
  • Retrieving Results – The last step in program activities is retrieving the simplest matched results. Basically, it’s nothing quite simply displaying them within the browser.

Search engines like Google and Yahoo! often update their relevancy algorithm dozens of times per month. once you see changes in your rankings it’s thanks to an algorithmic shift or something else outside of your control.

Although the essential principle of operation of all search engines is that the same, the minor differences between their relevancy algorithms cause major changes in results relevancy.

What is SEO Copywriting?

SEO Copywriting is that the technique of writing viewable text on an internet page in such how that it reads well for the surfer, and also targets specific search terms. Its purpose is to rank highly within the search engines for the targeted search terms.

Along with viewable text, SEO copywriting usually optimizes other on-page elements for the targeted search terms. These include the Title, Description, Keywords tags, headings, and alternative text.

The idea behind SEO copywriting is that search engines want genuine content pages and not additional pages often called “doorway pages” that are created for the only purpose of achieving high rankings.

What is program Rank?

When you search any keyword employing a program , it displays thousands of results found in its database. A page ranking is measured by the position of sites displayed within the program results. If an enquiry engine is putting your website on the primary position, then your website rank are going to be no 1 and it’ll be assumed because the page with the very best rank.

SEO is that the process of designing and developing an internet site to achieve a high rank in program results.

What is On-Page and Off-page SEO?

Conceptually, there are two ways of optimization:

  • On-Page SEO – It includes providing good content, good keywords selection, putting keywords on correct places, giving appropriate title to each page, etc.
  • Off-Page SEO – It includes link building, increasing link popularity by submitting open directories, search engines, link exchange, etc.

SEO – Tactics & Methods

SEO techniques are classified into two broad categories:

  • White Hat SEO – Techniques that search engines recommend as a part of an honest design.
  • Black Hat SEO – Techniques that search engines don’t approve and plan to minimize the effect of. These techniques also are referred to as spamdexing.

White Hat SEO

An SEO tactic is taken into account as White Hat if it’s the subsequent features:

  • It conforms to the search engine’s guidelines.
  • It doesn’t involve in any deception.
  • It ensures that the content an enquiry engine indexes, and subsequently ranks, is that the same content a user will see.
  • It ensures that an internet page content should are created for the users and not only for the search engines.
  • It ensures good quality of the online pages.
  • It ensures availability of useful content on the online pages.

Always follow a White Hat SEO tactic and don’t attempt to fool your site visitors. Be honest and you’ll definitely get something more.

Black Hat or Spamdexing

An SEO tactic, is taken into account as Black Hat or Spamdexing if it’s the subsequent features:

  • Attempting ranking improvements that are disapproved by the search engines and/or involve deception.
  • Redirecting users from a page that’s built for search engines to at least one that’s more human friendly.
  • Redirecting users to a page that was different from the page the program ranked.
  • Serving one version of a page to look engine spiders/bots and another version to human visitors. this is often called Cloaking SEO tactic.
  • Using hidden or invisible text or with the page background color, employing a tiny font size or hiding them within the HTML code like “no frame” sections.
  • Repeating keywords within the metatags, and using keywords that are unrelated to the web site content. this is often called metatag stuffing.
  • Calculated placement of keywords within a page to boost the keyword count, variety, and density of the page. this is often called keyword stuffing.
  • Creating low-quality sites that contain little or no content but are instead full of very similar keywords and phrases. These pages are called Doorway or Gateway Pages.
  • Mirror websites by hosting multiple websites – all with conceptually similar content but using different URLs.
  • Creating a rogue copy of a well-liked website which shows contents almost like the first to an internet crawler, but redirects web surfers to unrelated or malicious websites. this is often called page hijacking.

Always stand back from any of the above Black Hat tactics to enhance the rank of your site. Search engines are smart enough to spot all the above properties of your site and ultimately you’re not getting to get anything.
