The treemap visualization possesses its name from the very fact that data is mentioned and handled as tree parts i.e. branches, nodes, leaves. it’s wont to display hierarchical data i.e. data that’s present in many layers of logic. A treemap is that the most suitable option to form once you have a lot of hierarchical data and not that much space on the sheet. Treemaps save tons of space on the sheet because it can contain as many data values because it can within the sort of small to smallest boxes (nested rectangles). the colour scheming and size grading reveals the highs and lows of things and tells you at a moment which product is doing good and which needs more attention and strategy. The one major drawback of a treemap chart is that it doesn’t show negative values.

Create Treemap Visualization in Qlik Sense

To create a treemap chart in Qlik Sense follow the steps given below.

Open the sheet editor from the Edit option present at the toolbar of the app you’re working in.
Go to Charts within the assets panel and choose Treemap from the list that opens.
Drag the treemap on the editing pane and add the dimension and measure of your choice from the choices Add dimension and Add measure.

Edit the treemap by adding aggregation functions to the measure if you would like , adding more dimensions, editing titles and labels, selecting the dimensions and color sort criterion etc using the properties panel. Once you’re through with making desired changes, click on Done to look at the treemap chart on the sheet.

As you’ll see, the treemap created here may be a simple one having leaves that show product quantity of every product specified on the smaller boxes/leaves. the colour grading is live here also , where the colour is getting lighter and therefore the box size is getting lighter because the quantity of the merchandise decreases.

The properties or exploration panel appear at the left of the editor and contains three sections that we’ll discuss below.

From this section, you’ll add dimensions and measure fields. you’ll add expressions and labels to individual dimensions and measures. you’ll add as many dimensions (rationally possible) as you need . Alternative dimensions and measures also can be added.
